What to anticipate in therapy

As a systemic family therapist, I am committed to building a brave space where we can come together and explore you, your family, your community, our society, and the world. 

My experience as a therapist is built on almost 20 years of leading yoga and mindfulness classes. My therapy approach centers on inquiry, curiosity, and collaboration. I emphasize integrating body-mind-heart-spirit and community to increase meaning and build fulfilling relationships. 

In early sessions, we will build a foundation based on your values and identify your therapy goals. At the beginning of each session, we will affirm your current needs and adapt our process to work on your goals and refine them over time. 

In this learning process, I will ask you questions that help us understand your story and its impact on your relationship, family, and life. These conversations may bring up painful memories or emotions that may feel difficult or overwhelming. We will practice courage and awareness in these moments and decide whether to pause or continue with respect and care. 

Everyone is worthy of dignity, and I will work to create and maintain a brave, trauma-informed space that values agency, courage, trust, respect, adaptability, and affirmation.

I actively seek continuing education, training programs, and diverse viewpoints. I receive regular guidance from supervisors, mentors, and colleagues who challenge me personally and professionally. My journey involves unlearning and relearning and I hope my efforts will benefit you in your pursuit of joy and meaning.

We will identify your individual and shared values and build a fulfilling relationship through a process that can include:

  • Inquiry into spoken and unspoken hopes, dreams, and expectations and their connection to your values,

  • Curiosity about yourself and your partner and what is and isn’t working for each of you,

  • Unlearning patterns from your family of origin,

  • Integrating healthy routines and practices that support your shared values, 

  • Practicing listening and repairing when you’ve hurt each other,

  • Honoring each other by increasing respect and awareness of your intentions and the impacts of your actions. 

INDIVIDUALS

We will identify your foundational values and build meaningful relationships and community through a process that can include:

  • Inquiry into where your values are active in your life,

  • Curiosity about what is and isn’t working for you,

  • Unlearning others’ expectations of you and focusing on what you value,

  • Integrating realistic practices and changes that are sustainable,

  • Honoring your multifaceted self by recognizing and supporting all your parts. 

Client Focus

Couples and adults (18+ years of age) interested in an experiential process of therapy to explore how your values are impacting your day-to-day experience. Therapy can offer a space to navigate relationship transitions with support; some examples can include: pre-marital, moving, career change, illness, pre-children, raising children, co-parenting with blended families, infidelity, divorce, re-marriage, retirement, caretaking parents, and death.
